n8n webhook received data but the next step is empty: check field paths

Distinguish a missing event from a field-path mismatch. Verify a bounded mapping repair using synthetic webhook examples.

Confirm receipt first

Inspect a successful webhook execution in your own workflow. If no event arrived, this mapping-only service is not the right repair. Do not replay real customer orders for diagnosis.

Compare the payload boundary

A field can be nested under body or data while the next step still reads a top-level key. Record the current plain dotted paths and the intended output fields.

Prove the mapping with varied examples

Supply at least two synthetic payloads with different values and the correct expected outputs. A paid quote is offered only when one unique field path matches every example and the original mapping fails.

Evidence to keep

Use synthetic order references and counts only. No passwords, tokens, email addresses, private URLs or customer data.
